Re:Problem with sheep milk soap - 2009/05/18 05:28 Hi!
I got the vibe to check in. Sorry folks, I have been gone a while. I am half way through my schooling. I am getting my license in Estiology. Going to school through AVEDA, because as you know I am all about natural skin care. Opps sorry for the diversion...

Just at first thought about your sheep milk soap... Don't worry about getting to 95 degrees, milk soaps really are better at lower temps. I soap at 85. I like your oils, but lean more to the Palm Kernal than to the coconut, as many people are allergic to coconut oil. I would add a half ounce or so of steric acid to help harden the soap up a bit, and a half ounce of honey would warm it up a bit in the molds, but with milk soap, they stay nicer smelling (not burnt) if you don't let them go to jell. The will on the other hand take a bit longer to harden. I think your soap will be fine. Your room might a little too humid (??) try a light fan blowing on the soap for a day to help dry them out to harden. Too much air will make them crack. I have not ran it through any calc's, but trust Denise. Oh ya, I soap at about 20 pounds per batch, and it only takes me about 10 min to go to trace with a stick blender. Are you positive you recognize trace? I would stir about a minute as you incorporate the lye with the milk and then pulse with a stick blender. Your milk doesn't have to be way too icy.. just enough that when you add the lye it doesn't get to hot.

Must go, but will think more about your delema.

Hugs to all my dear friends here!
