white around edges? - 2009/09/23 06:55 i have been noticing with some of my soap batches that when they have jelled and cooled they are white around the edges only on the corners and it is whitish all the way through not just spots? not all my soaps just some example my lemon pearberry has it and my oatmeal, milk and honey doesnt. could it be the fo? not mixing enough? does that mean it is lye heavy? any input would be helpful! thanx everyone.

Re:white around edges? - 2009/09/27 17:07 I have been thinking about your question. I've had this happen at times too. I used to buy the large pails of palm oil and once I got down to the bottom third of the pail I'd get this problem. It's because the stearic acid sinks to the bottom. I read where you should melt the whole pail down when you get it and put it into smaller containers. Too much like work for me! So I buy the smaller pails now and I haven't had the problem since. Don't know if this is what's happening to you or not but it does sound similar! Denise
