Re:Working with oxides - 2009/10/11 22:49 I've never tried to make black soap but I'm sure Jan know's what she is talking about. I made a "moacha" sp? soap once and thought if I used coffee in the lye solution instead of plain water it would give the soap a nice coffee color. It did that all right but it also turned washcloths a nice brown. So much for that experiment. Clay or mud is probably the way to go. Jan is a fountainhead of soaping knowledge.

Ginny and I are hanging in as best we can with the economy in the pits. I'll be 62 next May and with early social security, part time teaching and selling our soap we can hopefully make it until our kids become millionaires. LOL.
