Re: Rookie Advice? - 1998/04/27 08:26 "Well congratulations on your first batch of soap. Be VERY careful, soap making is addicting! I have been making soap for about two years and I make a batch every few days. There is always something more to try.

The hottest tip I can give you is to start seeing everything as a potential soap mold! You know, of course that you may not use tin, aluminum or cast iron. but that plastic and glass are great... and that means that anything plastic can be used, if it is a sturdy plastic.

My latest favorite soap mold is the SHEBA brand cat food containers. Unlike other cat food cans, these are made of plastic and make a lovely sized bar of soap with a really nice edge. I have spent a fortune on 'real' soap molds, and the soaps are always a struggle to pop out of these molds. But those Sheba cans are perfect!

If you don't have a cat.. well, find someone who does! They are no doubt throwing those Sheba containers away by the dozen!!"
